The amount of energy required to break one mole of bonds of a particular type between two atoms is called bond dissociation energy or bond energy.

Bond energy of C=O is 745 kJmol1.
Bond energy of N=O is 607 kJmol1.

It can be explained as:
Higher is the bond length, lower will be its bond energy. Further, bond length depends upon the number of the lone pairs of electrons present on the bonded atoms.
