The Communist Party of India came into force with ideals of Marxism-Leninism, secularism and democracy, in 1925. It rose to oppose the forces of secessionism and communalism. This party is quite popular in Kerala, West Bengal, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The party split into two in 1964 and lost prominence. The leaders could not agree whether they should accept the leadership of China or the Soviet Union concerning the international communist movement.
