The hormones oxytocin and vasopressin are secreted from the posterior lobe of the pituitary. These are actually produced in the neurosecretory cells of the hypothalamus. The pituitary gland produces the adrenocorticotropic hormone, prolactin, somatotropic hormone, growth hormone, gonadotropic hormone and thyroid stimulating hormone.
