Solution

The correct option is A Estrogen and parathyroid hormone
Osteoporosis is an age-related disorder characterised by decreased bone mass and increased chances of fractures.

Decreased levels of estrogen is a common cause. Women are at a higher risk for osteoporosis after menopause due to lower levels of estrogen.

Estrogen is a female sex hormone that facilitates the action of osteoblasts, which are bone producing cells. At the time of menopause, the level of estrogen drops, hence osteoblasts cannot produce bone that effectively.

Parathyroid hormone is responsible for maintaining calcium levels in the blood, causing the bones to secrete their calcium into the blood. Increased levels of parathyroid hormone increase the dissolution of bones, causing osteoporosis.

Hence, option a is correct.

Aldosterone: It helps in the maintenance of electrolytes, body fluid volume, osmotic pressure and blood pressure.

Prolactin: regulates the growth of mammary glands and production of milk in them.

Progesterone: maintains pregnancy.
