Solution

The correct option is B Insulin
Hormones bind to certain proteins called hormone receptors, which are present on the cell membranes of the target cells or inside the target cells. Binding of a hormone to its receptor results in the formation of a hormone-receptor complex.

Water soluble hormones, which include amino-acid derivatives, peptides, polypeptides, and proteins (e.g. insulin) interact with membrane-bound receptors. This interaction generates second messengers (e.g. cyclic AMP, IP3, Ca++ etc.) inside the cell, which regulate cellular metabolism .

Lipid soluble hormones, which include steroid hormones and iodothyronines, can cross the cell membrane and enter the cell. They interact with intracellular receptors present within the cell. For example, estrogen, cortisol and thyroxine.
