Solution
The correct option is A Ecdyson Metamorphosis is the series of changes in the life of an insect where it changes from the larva to the adult form. Ecdysis or molting is the periodic shedding of the old exoskeleton. The form of the developing insect between two molts is called instar.
There are various hormones that regulate metamorphosis. Some of them are-
1. Prothoracicotropic (PTTH) or brain hormone that signals the prothoracic cells to secrete molting hormone.
2. Ecdyson- This is secreted by the prothoracic gland. The hormone stimulates growth and initiates the process of molting and shedding the old cuticle of the larva and the new cuticle is formed beneath the old cuticle.
3. juvenile hormone (JH)- The juvenile hormone keeps the larval cells active and also controls the qualitative changes in the body during metamorphosis.
