Question

which of the following is a case is accelerated motion
a)uniform circular motion
b)uniform circular motion and motion of atheletes in a straight line
c)motion of atheletesin a straight line
d)body movingwith constant velocity

Open in App
Solution

The case a) b) and c) all are accelerated motion.

a) In uniform circular motion the direction of the particle changes constantly. Since the velocity is a vector quantity, the change in direction also means change in velocity, and hence there is a acceleration.

b) In uniform circular motion has acceleration for the reason stated above. For athlete running in straight line, he starts from rest and then run some time with acceleration and then attend some maximum velocity and run with that velocity for rest of the time. If the distance is more there velocity changes with time (decreases or increases). So there is acceleration.

c) Motion of athletes in straight line has acceleration, reason stated above.

d) body moving with constant velocity will not have any acceleration.
