  1. Cl2+2KI→2KCl+I2
  2. 2K+Cl2→2KCl

Solution

Step 1: Chemical reaction

  • The reaction between one or more substances (reactants) and it formed a new substance (products) is called a chemical reaction.

Step 2: Combination reaction and displacement reaction

  • The reaction is when two or more elements are combined to form a single compound and is called a combination reaction.
  • The reaction is when one atom of the reactant gets displaced by another atom of another reactant is called a displacement reaction.

Step 3: Name of the reaction

  1. Cl2(g)+2KI(s)→2KCl(s)+I2(g) - This reaction is called a displacement reaction because the Iodine atom in the potassium iodide is displaced by Chlorine and forms Potassium chloride.
  2. 2K(s)+Cl2(g)→2KCl(s) - This reaction is called a combination reaction because potassium and chloride are combined to form potassium chloride.
