Which of the following is also known as aqua fortis?
Nitric acid
Nitric acid (HNO3), also known as aqua fortis and spirit of nitre, is a highly corrosive mineral acid. It is so called because it reacts with nearly all metals. It can even dissolve silver which does not dissolve in other acids. The pure compound of nitric acid is colourless, but older samples tend to acquire a yellow cast due to decomposition into oxides of nitrogen and water. Most commercially available nitric acid has a concentration of 68% in water.
