During National Emergency, the executive power of the Center extends to directing any State regarding the manner in which it's executive power is exercised. Parliament becomes empowered to make laws on any subject mentioned in State List.

According to Article 358 after the 44th Amendment Act, 1978, freedoms under Article 19 automatically suspend if the emergency is imposed on the grounds of war or external aggression while Article 359 relates to the suspension of enforcement of fundamental rights except Article 20 and 21.
