A solution is defined as a homogeneous mixture composed of two or more substances.
Distilled water is the purest form of water and contains no other impurity. So, it not a solution but a pure substance. But if we add salt to it and stir it well, it would form a solution with water. Stainless steel is an alloy of iron, chromium, nickel etc. Therefore, stainless steel and salt dissolved in water are solutions.
