The substances like sunlight, dust, mites, pollen grains, that cause allergic reactions are called allergens. An allergen can enter the body in the following ways:
Through the nose: Allergen such as pollen grains, dust and animal hair can enter the body when a person breathes in.
Through the mouth: Food allergens such as milk, eggs, fish and some medicines enter the body when a person consumes food containing them.
Through the skin: Allergic reaction also occurs due to insect bites and stings. An allergy is also caused when our skin comes in contact with certain metals, cosmetics and strong sunlight.
