The correct options are
B Dumpings are covered with a thick layer of mud.
C The whole set up is layered with plastic.
D It produces compost.
Modern landfill sites are dumping sites for biodegradables, dug far from residential areas. The bottom of the landfill site is covered with clay and then plastic, making sure no harmful materials penetrate causing soil pollution. Waste is compressed, dumped in pits and covered with soil, leaves and specific biochemicals. The compressed waste is decomposed by microbes. High quality compost is formed out of it, which is used as a fertilizer in farms. The final product i.e., compost is removed and the site is ready for reuse.
