Which of the following is classified as an impact printer?
Daisy wheel printers were called impact printers, since they operated by striking an ink ribbon against the paper. The printer uses a metal or plastic disk containing each of the letters, numbers, and other characters it supports. When something is printed, the printer rotates the disk to each character and then using a hammer strikes each character into an ink ribbon to create the character on paper.
It represented a considerable improvement in speed and reduction in mechanical complexity compared to other typewriters then used as low-speed printers. The speed was initially 30 characters per second with a repertoire of 96 characters.
