Solution

The correct option is A Entomophily and basal placentation
Placentation refers to the arrangement of ovules in an ovary. It could be of various types such as axile (ovules attached to a multilocular ovary), marginal (placenta forms a ridge on which ovules are formed), parietal (ovules are present on the inner wall of the ovary), free central (ovules are borne on the central axis with no septa) and basal (ovules develop at the base of the ovary).

In basal placentation, the ovary is unilocular (ovary with one locule). It bears a single placenta at the base with generally a single ovule. E.g:- sunflower and marigold.

Entomophilous flowers have some particular characteristics. They have large (if the flowers are small in size or inconspicuous, they cluster together into an inflorescence to make them conspicuous- sunflower) and brightly coloured flowers. They secrete specific odours depending on the pollinator to attract them. They provide nectar and edible pollen grains as rewards to animals for pollination. Sunflower and marigold are pollinated by insects (entomophily).

Coconut palm, date palm and grasses are pollinated by wind (anemophily).
