Which of the following is correct graphical representation of Charle's Law?
We know that according to Charles' law,
V ∝ T
⇒V1T1=V2T2
⇒V1T2=V2T1
Now as V ∝ T, V vs T will be a linear graph.
Interesting thing here is that, in the first graph - at 0 degree C, volume is non - zero. That makes sense right? Since volume will be 0 at 0 K, NOT at 0 degree celsius.
The second graph is obviously not correct, since V vs T is linear, V vs 1/T cannot be linear! (relate this to the P vs V graph in Boyle's Law)
The last graph - is correct! V/T is going to be constant, whatever the value of T is. That is what Charle's Law is, right?
You can also figrue this out using PV = nRT, since P is constant, V/T = nR/P which is constant.
