Solution

The correct option is C Virus
In the five-kingdom classification of Whittaker there is no mention of lichens and some a cellular organisms like viruses, viroids and prions.

Viruses are entirely excluded from the five kingdom classification system, introduced by R.H. Whittaker.

Viruses are considered to be acellular as they do not have a defined cell wall, cell membrane, nucleus or nucleoid, cytoplasm and cellular organelles. For this reason, they cannot perform their metabolic activities on their own and are obligately dependent on the host cell machinery. Therefore, they do not find a place in the five-kingdom classification system.

R.H Whittaker's five kingdom classification includes:- Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantae and Animalia.

Algae is included in kingdom plantae, fungi is itself a seperate kingdom and bacteria is included in kingdom monera.
