In gaseous cycles, the elements have a main reservoir in the gaseous phase, and the reservoir pool is the atmosphere or water. The compounds of these elements pass through the biotic components and enter a gaseous phase too before completing the cycle. Example: Nitrogen and carbon. Whereas sulphur and phosphorous reservoirs are mainly in the earth, soil and rocks and hence these cycles are primarily sedimentary. Sulphur also has a small gaseous phase as sulphur dioxide, but is not considered a gaseous cycle because the biggest sulphur reservoir is the ocean.
