Solution

The correct option is C PBr+4>PCl+4>PF+4
a) The XPX bond angle follows the order PBr3>PCl3>PF3, because as electronegativity decreases from F to Br, bond pair- bond pair repulsion will increase in the manner PBr3>PCl3>PF3.
b) Due to the same reason XPX bond angle in POBr3, POCl3 and POF3 follows the order POBr3>POCl3>POF3
c) Since all the PBr+4,PCl+4,PF+4 have the tetrahedral geometry so bond angles are equal.
d) Though both PCl+4 and PCl3 have sp3 hybridisation, but due to presence of a lone pair in PCl3, there will be some lone pair-bond pair repulsion, which decreases the bond angle of PCl3 from the ideal bond angle (109.50).
