Magnetic lines of forces are the imaginary lines which represent the magnetic field around the magnet in all dimensions. Magnetic lines of force have direction from north pole to south pole outside the magnet and from south pole to north pole inside the magnet. They never intersect each other. When the like poles of two magnets are brought close to each other, they have mutual repulsion and thus magnetic lines of force bend sideways as shown. Similarly, when the unlike poles of two magnets are brought close to each other, they have mutual attraction and thus the magnetic lines of force join together going from the north pole of one magnet to the south pole of another magnet as shown.
