Which of the following is known as the waste disposal system of the cell?
Lysosome
Lysosomes act as the waste disposal system of the cell. They have hydrolyzing enzymes which digest the waste by-products and also invading microorganisms. They also help in recycling amino acids after degradation of proteins that are no longer in use. Golgi apparatus help in the packaging of proteins synthesised by the ribosomes on the rough endoplasmic reticulum. Vacuoles are the storage space for water and salts. Plastids like chloroplast are the site of photosynthesis.
