The correct option is C CO
Carbon monoxide is produced due to incomplete combustion, metallurgical operations and naturally by plants as well as animals. Fifty percent of carbon monoxide emissions are from automobiles. Normally carbon monoxide has a brief existence in atmosphere and is rapidly oxidised to carbon dioxide. However in congested and closed area, it becomes quite harmful. Carbon monoxide combines with haemoglobin and produces carboxy haemoglobin. At 50 ppm carbon monoxide converts 7.5 per cent of haemoglobin into carboxy haemoglobin within 8 hours. It impairs oxygen transport, resulting in giddiness, headache, decreased vision, cardiovascular malfunction and asphyxia.
