Alpha particles, beta and gamma rays are the cause of radioactive pollution. Radioactive pollution is the degradation of environment due to release of radioactivity (emission of alpha particles, beta rays and gamma rays), by changes in the nuclides (i.e atomic nucleus) of unstable or radioactive elements causing short - range and long - range harmful effects on living beings including humans. Infrared rays are long wavelength rays and hence have comparatively lesser energy content and are hence non ionising.
