Solution

The correct option is D Pellicle- protein layer covering the cell membrane

Chrysophytes belong to the Kingdom Protista. These are aquatic, microscopic organisms that float in water currents, thus called planktons. Most of them are photosynthetic, hence are the chief producers of the oceans. These include diatoms that have an indestructible cell wall embedded with silica. Large amounts of cell wall deposits are left behind by diatoms in their habitat and accumulation of these over the year is called diatomaceous earth.

In euglenoids, the cell wall is replaced by a protein rich layer called pellicle which is not present in chrysophytes.
