The correct option is B M phase
Cell cycle is an orderly sequence of events during which a cell grows, duplicates its genetic material and then undergoes division. Cell cycle includes a non-dividing phase, interphase, and a dividing phase, mitotic or M phase. Hence, M phase is not a part of interphase.
Interphase is of long duration and during this phase the cell prepares to divide by undergoing cell growth and DNA replication. Interphase is further divided into G1, S and G2 phases.
During G1 phase, cells are metabolically active and cellular contents are synthesized and thus there is overall cell growth.
During S phase, DNA undergoes replication and makes a copy of itself. The total content of DNA gets doubled.
During G2 phase, proteins needed for cell division are synthesized.
