Which of the following is not a product of the light reaction of photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis takes places in two stages - The light dependent phase (Light reaction) and the light independent phase (Dark reaction). The chloroplast is involved in both stages of photosynthesis.
The light reaction takes place in the thylakoids. There, water (H2O) is oxidized, and oxygen (O2) is released as a byproduct. The electrons freed up from the water are transferred to ATP and NADPH. The dark reaction occurs outside of the thylakoids. In this reaction, the energy from ATP and NADPH are used to fix carbon dioxide (CO2).
So NADH is not a product of the light reaction of photosynthesis. It is produced during cellular respiration.
