The correct option is A Short lactation period
A scientific process of mating selected individuals to produce offspring with desirable characteristics is called the controlled breeding. The folowing are some traits that are considered which choosing a parent cattle:

Lactation period - The length of milk producing period after calf birth is known as the lactation period. In controlled breeding, cattle with long lactation period is preferred. This characteristic makes it economically useful to the farmer.

Disease resistance - Native breeds are more resistant to the majority of diseases compared to a foreign breed introduced in that area. So, breeds with high yielding potential as well as resistance to disease are selected over others.

Age of the animals - The age of the animal at the time of reproduction is very important. If the age is below optimum (12-14 months), then calves born will be weak and in the later stage of their life will yield less milk during their lactation period.
