Sal tree is a large, deciduous tree found in India, Myanmar and Nepal. It is upto 30m tall. Its primary use is to get timber. It also has medicinal values. A whitish raisin called 'lal dhuna' is obtained from the tree when tapped, which is used to caulk boat and ships.
