Which of the following is not observed in Biodiversity Hotspots?
There are 3 criteria for an area to be a hotspot:
1. Endemism - Species unique to the given geographical area
2. Species richness - The number of different species represented in a region
3. Accelerated species loss
In Biodiversity Hotspots, interspecific competition is high. Due to high species diversity, the interspecific competition would be enhanced. For example, leopards and lions in rainforests are in interspecific competition, since both species feed on the same prey.
