Solution

The correct option is B It provides only sequential access to stored data

It provides only sequential access to stored data is not true for a magnetic disk.

Sequential access memory. In computing, sequential access memory (SAM) is a class of data storage devices that read stored data in a sequence. This is in contrast to random access memory (RAM) where data can be accessed in any order. Sequential access devices are usually a form of magnetic storage or optical storage.

A flat rotating disc covered on one or both sides with magnetisable material. The two main types are the hard disk and the floppy disk. Data is stored on either or both surfaces of discs in concentric rings called "tracks". Each track is divided into a whole number of "sectors".

The key difference between optical storage media, such as CDs and DVDs, and magnetic storage media, such as hard drives and old-fashioned floppy disks, is in how computers read and write information to them. One uses light; the other, electromagnetism.Jan 26, 2018
