Solution

The correct option is A Cortical granule reactions
As the sperm approaches the oocyte and both their plasma membranes fuse, the sperm is provided entry into the oocyte.

Soon after this, a series of events are initiated which prevents the entry of multiple sperms into the oocyte or polyspermy.

In one of the methods to prevent polyspermy, the cortical enzymes located inside the secretory vesicles present just underneath the plasma membrane of the oocyte are released outside. These chemicals interact with the zona pellucida and harden it, as a measure to prevent polyspermy.

The fusion of male and female pronuclei is referred to as amphimixis which gives rise to a single diploid nucleus.

Acrosomal reactions are initiated by the acrosome of the sperm which help it in penetrating the various layers of secondary oocyte and bring about successful fertilisation.

Folliculogenesis is the process of formation of follicles in the ovary.

Folliculogenesis, amphimixis and acrosomal reactions are not involved in prevention of polyspermy.
