Carbon Dioxide is a clean,non-contaminating, odourless gas and is used as a fire extinguisher for flammable liquid fires. Carbon dioxide molecules are heavier than oxygen molecules hence it cuts down the supply of oxygen and brings down the ignition temperature. Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers extinguish the fire by taking away the oxygen element of the fire triangle.
