It is separated into left and right lobes by falciform ligament. It contains hepatic lobules which are structural and functional units of the liver. Glisson's capsule is a thin connective tissue covering the lobules. These hepatic lobules are made up of hepatic cells (hepatocytes) that produce bile juice. Hepatocytes are arranged in the form of cords. These cords are called hepatic cords. The space between the hepatic cords is called hepatic sinusoid.
