Akbar is credited for being tolerant and promoter of communal harmony. His religious policies were influenced by Saint Kabir who was champion of the cause of Hindu-Muslim unity. He initiated a sect/religion Din-i-Ilahi which incorporated the good practices of different religions. It included teachings of Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Christianity, Sikhism etc. He also established an "Ibadatkhana' where teachings of different religious preachers were discussed and debated.
