Ammonia is the most toxic nitrogenous waste and requires a lot of water to be flushed out of the body. Most of the aquatic animals including protozoans, crustaceans, platyhelminthes, cnidarians, poriferans, echinoderms, fishes, larvae/tadpoles of amphibians are ammonotelic i.e. they excrete nitrogenous waste in the form of ammonia.
