The surgical method of contraception for men is a vasectomy and for women, it is tubal ligation (tubectomy). In the vasectomy, a slight incision is made at the base of the scrotum in order to expose vas deferens. The vas deferens, which carries the sperms to the urethra, is tied by a thread, the sperms cannot go past the tied point. Castration refers to the permanent removal of testes.
