Solution
The correct option is C Both A and B The main purpose of malate-aspartate shuttle is to provide a mechanism to regulate glycolysis and lactate metabolism in the heart. It does so by transporting electron for oxidative phosphorylation from cytosol into mitochondria. Malate-alpha-ketoglutarate transporter transports the malate from the cytosol into the mitochondria and also exports alpha-ketoglutarate from the matrix into the cytosol. The glutamate-aspartate transporter transports glutamate from the cytosol into the matrix and aspartate from the matrix to the cytosol.
