Solid CO2 which is also known as dry ice is used in making artificial clouds.

It is nothing but dry ice (solid CO2).

Dry CO2 is pressurized and refrigerated between 57Cand+30C until it is solidified. Next, the pressure is reduced. As a result, some solid CO2 vaporises, causing a rapid lowering of the temperature of the remaining liquid, causing liquid to solidify into a snow-like consistency. Finally, the snow-like CO2 is compressed into either small pellets or larger block of dry ice.
