Rajaraja Chola I, the son of Parantaka Chola II was named Arulmozhi Varman by his father. However, he gave himself the title, King of Kings, or Rajaraja. During his reign, the Chola dynasty stretched from Sri Lanka in the South to Kalinga in the North (modern-day Odisha).
