Dermis
The skin is made up of two main layers - the outer epidermis and the inner dermis. The epidermis is subdivided into three regions. However, these regions are all totally devoid of blood vessels. The dermis is the layer that contains blood vessels and nerve fibres among other structures. Stratum corneum or the cornified layer is the outermost region of the epidermis.
