Solution

The correct option is C Myocardium
The pericardium is a thin double-layered sac, which encloses the heart. The wall of the heart consists of three distinct layers as:
1. The epicardium, which is the outermost layer, consisting of a surface of flattened epithelial cells resting upon connective tissue.
2. The myocardium is the middle layer and is composed of spontaneously contracting cardiac muscle fiber, that are made up of cardiac muscle cells. Each cell contains myofibrils, that has highly organized contractile units called sarcomeres and these cardiac muscles make it thick .
3. The endocardium is the inner layer that lines the chambers of the heart.
Hence the correct option is C.
