Which of the following methods can be used to prevent corrosion?
Painting
Metal plating
Alloying
Corrosion occurs when metals are exposed continuously to atmospheric oxygen and water. To prevent corrosion, the following methods can be used:-
-Covering the surface of a metal with paint to avoid its interaction with the atmosphere.
-Covering the surface of a metal with a layer of more reactive metal. For example, to prevent rusting of iron it is covered with zinc plating.
-Making an alloy of the metal because, it will enhance the materials resistance to corrosion.
- Acids are corrosive in nature and hence cannot be used to prevent corrosion.
