Solution

The correct option is D Dissolution of acids in water
Salt can be prepared by using a number of ways, some of which are mentioned below :-
1. When acids react with base, the base neutralizes the acid, leading to the formation of salt and water.
This reaction is known as Neutralization reaction.
Acid+BaseSalt+Water
2. When an acid reacts with metal, salt and hydrogen gas are produced. The H2 gas is formed by combination of hydrogen ions released by the acid, and the metal and the anionic part of the acid combine together to form the salt.
Acid+MetalSalt+H2
3. Metal oxides are basic in nature and hence when acids react with them, neutralization reaction takes place leading to the formation of salt and water.
4. Dissolution of acids will only result in the decrease in their concentration i.e the number of H+ions per unit volume will decrease. There won't be any formation of new products as the acid has only been diluted.
Hence, the correct answer is option (D).
