Solution

The correct option is C Electroporation
Biolistics, microinjection and electroporation are the methods of direct gene delivery into the host cells.

Electroporation is the technique that uses electrical fields to destabilise the membrane for some time. This creates transient pores in the cell membrane and thus, enhances membrane permeability. This further allows the entry of normally impermeable DNA into the cytoplasm of the cell.

Biolistics/ gene gun is a technique in which the plant cells are bombarded with high velocity micro-particles of gold or tungsten (inert in nature) coated with DNA. In microinjection, the recombinant DNA is directly injected into the nucleus of an animal cell in this method. These do not use electric impulses for gene delivery into host cells.
