There are very few magnetic materials. Only a few elements like iron, nickel, cobalt are magnetic metals. Steel which is an alloy of iron and carbon is also magnetic. Similarly other objects containing these elements or a mixture of these are all magnetic.
So iron nail, steel spoon, nickel knife are all magnetic while the wood is non-magnetic.
