Grignard reagent is a strong nucleophile. It undergoes nucleophilic substitution reaction when it reacts with an epoxide.
In this reaction, a nucleophilic attack by Grignard reagent, on the ring carbon atom of the epoxide leads to ring opening, followed by formation of a alcohol upon protonation. This is shown in the image below.
the product formed is primary alcohol and it contains a six member ring, one methyl group and and -OH group. It doesnot contain any ethyl group. Hence correct answer is option b.
