Solution

The correct options are
B It sublimes at 3500o C.
C It has high thermal conductivity.

Following are the characteristics of diamond:

  • It is very hard because every carbon atom is strongly bonded with four other carbon atoms.
  • It has high thermal conductivity due to the strong chemical bonding between the carbon atoms.
  • It does not conduct electricity as each carbon atom is covalently bonded with four other carbon atoms and there are no free electrons.
  • It changes from the solid state to gaseous state at 3500o C without passing through the liquid state. This phenomenon is called sublimation.
