Let the mean proportion be $b$

Hence we have 4 : b :: b: 64

$\therefore$ $\frac{4}{b}$ = $\frac{b}{64}$

$b^2$ = $4\times 64$

$\Rightarrow b^2=256$

$\Rightarrow b=16$
