Myopia means shortsightedness. The person suffering from myopia can see nearby things clearly but is unable to see the objects placed far off. This is generally caused by two factors:
i. increase in the size of the eye-ball
ii. increase in the power of the eye lens
In both cases, the image is formed in front of the retina, instead of forming on the retina.
It is corrected by using a diverging lens, i.e. a concave lens.
