Which of the following options are correct?
Valency of ferric ion > Valency of ferrous ion
Valency of cupric ion > Valency of cuprous ion
Certain elements exhibit more than one valency, i.e. they have variable valency.
So, if an element exhibits two different valencies: the suffix '-ous' is added to the ion exhibiting the lower one and the suffix '-ic' is added to ion exhibiting the higher one.
E.g.:
Ferrous− Fe2+ Ferric− Fe3+
Cuprous− Cu+ Cupric− Cu2+
